James Sellicks Estate Agents

Independent Estate Agent, Leicestershire, Rutland & Northamptonshire

You’ve found the house. Or you’re ready to sell. Either way, you want someone in your corner who actually knows this part of the country — not a call centre putting you on hold while they look up your postcode.

James Sellicks is an independent estate agency founded in Leicester in 1997, covering Leicestershire, Rutland and Northamptonshire, with four offices: Granby Street in Leicester city centre, Church Street in Market Harborough, Market Place in Oakham, and St. James’s Place in London. They handle everything from city centre penthouses and executive new builds to fine village and country homes, with properties ranging from £150,000 up to £5m and beyond.

Their marketing goes well beyond a few smartphone photos and a Rightmove listing. Every property receives professional photography, a bespoke printed brochure, drone videography, 3D virtual tours, and social media campaigns across Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn — the kind of presentation more commonly associated with London agencies. They’re also members of the National Home Sale Network, connected to 228 independent agents across the country — from Stags in Devon to Rettie & Co in Edinburgh — giving sellers genuine national reach without going to a corporate chain.

What sets Sellicks apart from most agents their size is director-level involvement on every sale. There are no handoffs to junior staff and no call centres — you deal with the same person from valuation through to completion. Charles Beretta, Jonathan Cameron, and Rita Tailor (who leads the Market Harborough office) are working directors, not figureheads.

They work with sellers of premium properties who want their home presented at its absolute best, buyers relocating into the East Midlands who need local expertise, and landlords managing buy-to-let portfolios across the three counties. If you’ve ever felt that a large corporate agent was managing your sale rather than fighting for it, Sellicks operates differently.

The majority of the team have been with the company for over ten years — which means the person valuing your home has almost certainly sold others on your street before. As one recent seller put it: “Quite the best agency that I’ve ever sold a house with.”

When you’re ready, give them a ring or pop into any of the four offices — they’re used to people who don’t quite know where to start, and they won’t make you feel daft for asking.
